It was really hot over the weekend, so we decided to cool down at the seaside. Many people might have had the same idea, but luckily, there are options for us where to go to. And while we have a lot of beaches in Belgium, I always prefer to go to Netherlands. And more specifically, to Zeeland.

The reason is that in Belgium they seem to want to make a profit out of everything. Every square meter is sold for property and businesses. Beaches are small and if you turn your head to the inland you'll only see apartment buildings.

Zeeland is the opposite. It's spacious, and you have a feeling you're out in nature, with dunes and vegetation. I also like that mobility factor where everything is designed to be visited by bike. Bike paths are enormous and often separated from regular (car) traffic.

So, anyway, to Zeeland we went. The weather was nice, perhaps a bit chilly (25°C) with the wind. However, it made up for some good kiting (some even had to work hard to keep their kite under control). And while I thought I could do some reading, the boys kept me busy with building sand castles, swimming, kiting and a lot of vortex throwing. But it was fun.

One final tip: make sure to check your sunscreen and whether it's still effective. One of our bottles was no longer effective, so we had to share the remaining one, which made us stingy with it, and I ended up getting a little burned on my feet.
